Abbotsbury Hatching of the Cygnets
http://www.abbotsbury-tourism.co.uk/

Since the 1390’s when Benedictine Monks looked after the swans at Abbotsbury (in Dorset) the first cygnet has been eagerly awaited, because the Monks believed it signified the first day of summer.
The first of the cygnets has now hatched and according to proud Swan Herder DAVID WHEELER (who can trace his predecessors back to a Benedictine Monk called William Squillor in 1393) “this year we have 140 nests each containing 6-8 eggs. This means the Swannery pathways and streams will be covered in baby swans from now on”. Some lucky visitors will actually take photographs of cygnets hatching from close quarters until the end of June.
A truly unique experience, Abbotsbury Swannery is home to the only colony of nesting mute swans that can be visited anywhere in the world. The swans are all free flying and are not caged. Amazingly the public can walk around hundreds of nests on the pathways, and be ignored by the swans.
Abbotsbury Swannery is in Dorset, off the A35 on the coastal road between Weymouth and Bridport. It is open 7 days a week until Nov1st from 10a.m. to 6p.m. last admission 5p.m. Facilities include a charming café, superb gift shop, audiovisual show, an ugly duckling trail, play area, and a Giant Swan Maze.

Street Theatre presents
'ALLO 'ALLO!
By Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft
Directed by: John McGrouther
Listen very carefully, I will say zis only once. Yes, it’s the stage version of the hilarious 80s TV cult comedy ‘Allo ‘Allo! and it is coming to Street in this touring production from the award-winning local group Street Theatre. Adapted by the original writers David Croft and Jeremy Lloyd, it reunites René the cafe owner (still caught up in the hunt for the fallen Madonna with the big you-know-whats) with his out-of-tune wife, his “Oooooh, René” mistress, and characters like Major-General von Klinkerhoffen and Herr Flick. This show is hugely entertaining and stuffed full of ingenious one-liners and compromising positions! At Strode Theatre for one night only, so make sure you book early.
